eh

Originally from Dublin, Ireland. Moved to London and then Leeds, England, I now live in Toronto, Canada. Oh and now back again. Anyway, you can take the woman out of Ireland but, you know the rest. Basically the stuff on here will be the same no matter where I am. Ramblings and rantings about stuff, some from Canada. Some of them really do say 'eh' ~~~~~ "ascertaining the comprehension, continued interest, agreement, etc., of the person or persons addressed"

10 things

10 things you didn't know*

1. The number 1 song the week I was born was I'm a Beliver by The Monkees.

2. Min igelkot e inte dum is Swedish for - my hedgehog isn't stupid.

3. The dot over the letter "i" is called a tittle.

4. Because metal was scarce, the Oscars given out during World War II were made of wood.

5. The phrase "rule of thumb" is derived from an old English law which stated that you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.

6. Space is only 62 miles away. That's 100 kilometres.

7. It's 30 years since the world's first barcode was used. It was on a 10-pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit at a supermarket in Ohio. The gum is now an exhibit in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC.

8. The Sex Pistols were banned almost in every part of the UK, so they started touring under the name SPOT (Sex Pistols On Tour).

9. An adult bedbug can survive up to one year without feeding.

10. No American has died of old age since 1951.
That was the year the government eliminated that classification on death certificates.

I realized that about space a while back. Not much between us and infinity.

(I was clever as some I'd know how to make the infinity symbol)

This is a very nice list, Amanda. It's not really possible to die of old age in the UK either, and on occasion I've had some difficulty in thinking of something to write on the death certificate.

some are indeed clever! and now even more so, what with now being able to tell Swedish people the health of hedgehogs, and all.
