eh

Originally from Dublin, Ireland. Moved to London and then Leeds, England, I now live in Toronto, Canada. Oh and now back again. Anyway, you can take the woman out of Ireland but, you know the rest. Basically the stuff on here will be the same no matter where I am. Ramblings and rantings about stuff, some from Canada. Some of them really do say 'eh' ~~~~~ "ascertaining the comprehension, continued interest, agreement, etc., of the person or persons addressed"

It's the Grand National all over again

The Grand National horse race, for those who don't know, is a big deal.
People who do not normally watch or bet on horse racing often have a go on the National, even if it's just the office sweeps draw.
I had to stop having anything to do with it after several disastrous years.
My first bad news was my selection's jockey fell off and was injured.
One year my horse fell, was badly injured.
The next year, the horse was too ill to even turn up on the day.
There was another injury.
The final straw was when a horse died.
So that was me finished with The National.
For a few years I have been a watching The Tour De France. I thought I had left The Curse of the National behind because a few days before the start of the tour 1999 I was watching an interview with a certain young texan and was so impressed with his attitude I decided he was going to win. He did, that year and a record number of years following too. He retired a couple of years ago and the Tour just wasn't the same for me. I didn't watch it at all last year.
Then during a re-cap show I spotted an interesting cyclist. I think it was about stage 3 or 4 and I was impressed by Alberto Contador. (he is espanish! Manuel)
I had found my Lance replacement.
He went on to win the tour.
woo hoo.
I was looking forward to seeing how he did defending his title this year. But he went and joined a stupid team, Astana, who have been banned from the tour this year.
According to BBC sport "Alberto Contador has confirmed he will not leave Astana to defend his Tour de France title with another team.
Race organisers chose not to select Astana for this year's Tour because of their implication in doping scandals over the last two years.
Contador said: "I will not ride in the Tour for any other team. I hope this ends all the speculation and rumour." "

Is it a surprise that I don't like sports?
